Verona and its surroundings

Walking through the streets of the historic center, along the banks of the Adige, the city of love shows its wonders. Marked by various eras, Verona tells with its architecture, the succession of various dominations: from the Roman settlement, to the age of the communes, to the time of the Lordship of the Scaligeri up to the Venetian and Habsburg dominations. In the central Piazza Bra stands the majestic Arena, the Roman amphitheater that has hosted the prestigious summer opera season for decades. Palazzo Barbieri and the Gran Guardia overlook the "liston", the wide pavement that follows the course of the square, while other noble buildings host the premises usually frequented by Veronese and tourists from all over the world.
Not far from the Casa di Giulietta, with its famous balcony, welcomes thousands of visitors fascinated by the story of Romeo and Juliet, the two lovers of Shakespeare's famous tragedy
It is pleasant to walk in Piazza delle Erbe, mixing with the people who animate the city market every day. To take a step back in time, in the heyday of the Scaligera Lordship, go to Piazza dei Signori and admire Palazzo di Cangrande and the Loggia of Fra Giocondo, Palazzo di Cansignorio and Palazzo della Ragione.
The Duomo deserves a visit, inside which the famous altarpiece by Titian is preserved, and not far away the Basilica of Santa Anastasia and the Roman Theater. Also not to be missed is a visit to the Basilica of San Zeno, a fascinating example of Romanesque architecture, and Castelvecchio, the ancient manor built in the 14th century by Cangrande II della Scala, currently the seat of the Civic Museum of Verona.
Verona is a city that is lived through art and the many emotions it knows how to arouse. Walking through the palaces, churches and squares it will be a journey that will lead into history, while above all the tormented love of the unhappy Shakespearean lovers will hover.
