While the geographic extremes of this vast stretch of coastline are characterized by low beaches mixed with sand and pebbles, especially at the mouths of the nearby rivers, the central part of the Costa degli Aranci is affected by rocky white granite promontories that gently slope towards the sea. The pebbly sandy shores of the long beaches of Botricello, Cropani and Sellia Marina to the north and Isca on the Ionian and Badolato Marina to the south, contrasts with the mighty Staletti promontory which offers the most beautiful and evocative views of the entire Costa degli Aranci. The promontory, which rises south of the long beach of Squillace Lido, is bordered by the beaches of Copanello to the north, south gently slopes towards the white beaches of Montepaone Lido and Soverato. At the center of the promontory Caminia, a town of Stalettì, characteristic for its beautiful granite cliffs overlooking the crystalline sea that form small and colorful marine caves. The natural and landscaping beauty of the Aranci Coast makes it an ideal setting for the archaeological heritage of the whole Gulf of Squillace and the well-known seaside resorts such as Soverato and Copanello. Rich of artistic and monumental testimonies of the ancient and glorious past also the medieval village of Squillace itself, perched at 344 meters of altitude overlooking the gulf. In the Archaeological Park of Scolacium you can admire the remains of the ancient Roman colony and the monumental Basilica of Santa Maria della Roccella, built in the 11th century by the Normans and considered one of the most important churches in Italy.
